Josh Alexander thinks that TNA working together with AEW in the future is possible again.
The two companies engaged in a relationship with TNA (then Impact! Wrestling) in late 2020. This included TNA stars like Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson appearing regularly on AEW Dynamite.
In addition, AEW stars like Christian Cage and Kenny Omega won the TNA World title. They appeared regularly on their television show. It also included Tony Khan buying ad space on Impact and talking down the company, in weekly segments.
With WWE’s new partnership with TNA, it looks unlikely AEW and TNA will work together again. However, former TNA World Champion Josh Alexander disagrees.
Josh Alexander spoke with WrestleManiac UK, and was asked about why the AEW/TNA partnership ended. The former TNA champion said he has “no idea” why it didn’t work, but added that AEW’s partnerships with NJPW and CMLL may have something to do with it.
“I have no idea. From the viewers’ perspective, being a fan, watching from week to week, I think they [AEW] have a very strong partnership with New Japan Pro Wrestling, as well as CMLL. There are just so many people on that roster that not all the dream matches can happen. But from the outside looking in, I think Tony Khan is a wrestling fan, just like the rest of us, and wants to see these amazing matchups that get him and other wrestling fans excited.”
“If there was ever something the fans really clamored for, like myself versus Will Ospreay part three, I’m sure we’d make it happen. I don’t think a wrestling fan would let business get in the way of something the fans wanted to see. This business is all about giving fans what they want at the right time for the business.”
