Josh O’Connor is set to co-star opposite Emily Blunt in the untitled film from Steven Spielberg, Amblin and Universal. O’Connor joins a cast that includes Colin Firth, Coleman Domingo and Eve Hewson.
The pic is based on a story by Spielberg and has the filmmaker’s longtime collaborator David Koepp penning the script.
Universal and Amblin had no comment.
Kristie Macosko Krieger is producing. Plot details have been kept under lock and key.
Universal has dated the film for May 15, 2026, landing it in the summer tentpole zone Spielberg practically created decades ago with such films as Jaws and Raiders of the Lost Ark. It would mark his fist major summer release in quite some time.
O’Connor most recently starred in the hit Amazon MGM Studios pic Challengers from Luca Guadagnino, which grossed nearly $100 million worldwide. He is currently filming Kelly Reichart’s film The Mastermind with Alana Haim and stars in Rian Johnson’s new Knives Out movie, Wake Up Dead Man for Netflix which will release next year.
He is repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group, Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
