Joshua Zirkzee has just entered the fray at Old Trafford to make his official debut as a Manchester United player.
The Dutch international takes to the turf for the first time in a red shirt with around 30 minutes to try and make an impact in tonight’s Premier League opener.
In a relatively balanced first half against Fulham, Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes had the better chances to break the deadlock – but were ultimately unable to do so.
Reds still chasing opener vs Cottagers
Erik ten Hag set his 11 up with no recognised centre-forward in the side, which became increasingly evident as the game progressed. As such, Zirkzee was called upon to replace Mason Mount, while Amad Diallo was withdrawn in place of Alejandro Garnacho.
Zirkzee, who joined on a £36.5 million deal from Serie A outfit Bologna, joins Noussair Mazraoui as the Reds’ second debutant; Matthijs de Ligt is on the bench, so could well make a short cameo before the referee blows for full-time.
