Manchester United trail 1-0 after 45 minutes played at Old Trafford against Liverpool.

It took 23 minutes to break the deadlock between the fierce rivals after a set-piece saw Luis Diaz afforded acres of space to latch on to Darwin Nunez’s flicked header and fire a scissor kick past Andre Onana.

As has been the case in countless matches, especially as of late, United have been dominated in terms of the shots they’ve faced. Liverpool notched 15 prior to the interval, with the home side unable to register a single one in response.

Today’s contest provides a chance for Erik ten Hag and his men to significantly dampen the Merseyside outfit’s title hopes, although, as it stands, that opportunity may be going amiss unless there’s a complete turnaround in the second half.

Samuel Luckhurst took to X to react to the derby’s affairs thus far, and singled out one Red for his below-par shift, sharing: “Liverpool thrashed United 1-0 that half. Not a single shot from United, who’ve conceded 15 shots at their goal. [Bruno] Fernandes particularly egregious”.
