A popular Kano politician in the botched Third Republic, Aminu Inuwa, has died.

Aminu Inuwa who was confirmed dead on Friday at the age of 79, rose to prominence when he vied for the Social Democratic Party, SDP governorship ticket in the aborted Third Republic.

He however lost the governorship ticket to Magaji Abdullahi but contested and won the Kano Central Senatorial seat

According to a report by Daily Nigerian, Senator Aminu was born on December 15, 1945. He began his education at Gidan Makama Primary School and later attended the prestigious Rumfa College, Kano and Barewa College, Zaria.

His thirst for knowledge saw him earn a degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He furthered his education at the renowned Johns Hopkins University in Washington, DC, where he obtained an MBA in Public Administration.

Before his political exploits, Aminu Inuwa was a respected public servant and businessman. He served as the Chief of Protocol to the Military Administrator of Kano State Col Sani Bello between 1975 and 1978.

He later became the Managing Director of Fiat Nigeria and Nigerian Telecommunications, NITEL, where his ingenuity earned him accolades for revitalising these critical institutions.

His service extended to the Governing Council of the National Cereals Research Institute, NCRI, Bida, where he played a vital role in steering policies aimed at improving agricultural research and innovation in Nigeria.

The late politician also expanded his administrative and entrepreneurial footprints, becoming a Director at Sure-P, the CEO of Kandama Construction and Tiga Farms.

He was laid to rest at the Dandolo Cemetery in Kano as family, friends, and admirers gathered to pray for the repose of his soul.

Aminu Inuwa is survived by his wives, children, and grandchildren.
