Jude Bellingham reaction says it all as childhood friend misses last-minute chance to beat England U21s

Jude Bellingham is known for holding everybody to his own high standards – and that includes his best friends.

The Real Madrid and England star appears to have found his mojo after struggling to replicate his early-season heroics of 12 months ago.

Bellingham opened his account for Los Blancos before the international break with a sumptuous finish in the 4-0 win over Osasuna.

And he continued his fine form during England’s successful double header against Greece and Ireland over the past week.

Before jetting back to the Spanish capital, Bellingham took the opportunity to watch brother Jobe line-up for the England under-21s in a friendly match against the Netherlands.

Bellingham was the star attraction despite sitting in the stands with his parents for the clash in Almere, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

However, the 21-year-old had a vested interest in both sides on show with good pal Noah Ohio featuring for the Dutch.

Ohio, who spent a year on loan at Hull City last season, is a forward for Eredivisie outfit FC Utrecht.

He represented England at U16 level after moving to the UK with his Nigerian parents at a young age.

It was there he became close friends with Bellingham and the pair have remained close ever since.

The friendship appears tight judging by Bellingham’s reaction to Ohio’s fluffed shot during Monday night’s encounter.

The Dutch prospect found himself in a good goalscoring position only to calamitously miskick his effort.

Television cameras quickly panned into Bellingham in the stands who flung his head back in disappointment before uttering what appears to be words of frustration to himself.

The England midfielder has never shied away from letting his feelings be known on the pitch and Ohio was unlikely to get away with this one.

The trio of the Bellingham brothers and Ohio posed for a picture at full time before heading their separate ways ahead of a return to club football this weekend.

Bellingham and Real Madrid head to minnow Leganes in La Liga on Sunday before a mammoth Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield next Wednesday.

Jobe and promotion-chasing Sunderland face a trip to Millwall this weekend while Ohio and Utrecht, who are riding high in second in the Eredivisie, face NEC.

“He’s someone to look up to,” Ohio told The Sun earlier this year when asked about his relationship with Bellingham. “He helps when he can, gives me advice. He’s at the top of the world but still so grounded and a humble boy.

“He’s the best in the world but to me he’s just Jude. He’s been my best mate for four, five years now. We played for England Under-16s, that’s when we got close.

“It’s been nice to see the growth of him. I’m really proud — he’s a superstar.”

He continued: “You know it’s possible because your friend’s got there. So anything is possible and everyone’s journey is different.

“He tells me to stay focused, don’t look left or right, it’s your own journey and your own path. Don’t compare and keep going at it. The more focused you are, the more success you will get.

“He’s really happy for me when I do well, just as I am when he scores every week.”
