Brahim Diaz praised teammate Jude Bellingham after scoring the winning goal for Real Madrid against RB Leipzig on Tuesday.

The former AC Milan player, who started in place of the injured Jude Bellingham, became Real Madrid’s hero by scoring his team’s winning goal against RB Leipzig in the first leg of the round of 16 Champions League final. After scoring the decisive goal, Diaz said he shared a very close bond with the England midfielder and hailed him as a world-class player.

“I love (Bellingham),” Díaz told Movistar. “From the start, we got along very well. I help him learn Spanish. He’s a world-class player, I love playing with him. In addition to his charisma, he is a great person. Despite the absence of Jude, who we missed, and (Antonio) Rudiger, and all these (players) who are injured for a long time, we continue to show that we are a great team, that we are Real Madrid.”.

Greeted by his replacement

After scoring in the 48th minute of the match in a brilliant individual move, the 24-year-old imitated Bellingham’s iconic open-arms celebration. The England international reacted on X to the Spaniard’s celebration by posting “Oh my god Brahim!!! “.

The Whites will now return to La Liga with the aim of increasing their lead at the top of the table by taking three more points against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
