The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Ajao Adewole, has warned residents against jungle justice.

Adewole said this would not be condoned under his watch in the nation’s capital, urging residents to report all matters to security agents.

Adewale stated this during the command’s outreach organised to foster stronger ties between police officers and residents in Abuja on Thursday.

He said, “I urge residents to report all security infringements to the appropriate authorities, trust in law enforcement is crucial in ensuring a safer society. Jungle justice will not be condoned in the FCT. The community must allow the police to handle criminal matters professionally.”

Reaffirming the commitment of the police to securing lives and property, CP Adewale assured residents that law enforcement officers were dedicated to upholding peace in the FCT.

The District Head and Hakimi of Jikwoyi, Nicodemus Saadu, commended the police for their efforts in maintaining security in the area.

However, Saadu pointed out that mobility remained a major challenge for officers, limiting their ability to respond swiftly to incidents.

He called for improved logistical support to enhance police efficiency in the community.

Some residents also praised the police for their dedication to security but highlighted various challenges facing the community, including inadequate resources and infrastructure to support law enforcement efforts.

Chairman of the FCT Police Community Relations Committee, Ebegba Rufus, lauded the initiative, stating that such interactions would help bridge the gap between law enforcement and the public, fostering a closer working relationship.

A crucial part of the outreach was a lecture on crime and its consequences, delivered by the Police Community and Volunteer Corps representative, ACP Olabisi.

She emphasised the critical role of mothers in raising morally upright children and urged parents to take joint responsibility in instilling values of discipline and integrity in their children.
