Jurgen Klopp has broken his silence on the prospect of Arne Slot succeeding him as Liverpool manager.

After announcing earlier this year that he would be leaving his position at the end of the season, Klopp, 56, is preparing for his final few games in charge of the Reds.

Following what has been a successful nine years in the Anfield dugout, the 56-year-old, who has an immense connection with the club’s fanbase, will be emotional when the time finally arrives to bid farewell.

Arne Slot frontrunner to succeed Jurgen Klopp

And of course, while Klopp readies his goodbye speech, Liverpool’s hierarchy, which now includes CEO of Football Michael Edwards, has been tasked with finding the German’s successor.

Although Xabi Alonso was the club’s preferred pick, the Spaniard ended all speculation over his future after agreeing to stay on with recently crowned Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.

Consequently, the Reds’ focus has shifted with Feyenoord’s Slot emerging as a clear frontrunner.

Arne Slot could become the next Liverpool manager.

According to the 45-year-old, who spoke about the rumours recently, all that needs to happen is for the two clubs to finalise negotiations.

“It seems clear to me that I would like to work there,” Slot said, as quoted by BBC Sport. “All I can say about it is that the clubs are in negotiations. I’m in the waiting room.”

And now the latest person to break silence on the proposed deal is Klopp. When asked by reporters (as quoted by Ben Jacobs), how he feels about Slot taking charge, the German said: “It’s the best job and club in the world.

“If he is the one, I like the way his team plays football and all the stuff I hear about him as a guy. He’s a good coach.”

During his time in charge of Feyenoord, Slot, who has two years left on his contract, has averaged an impressive 2.13 points per game.
