'Just For Us' Comedian Alex Edelman Gives Emotional Speech After Winning His First Emmy, Months After Tony Win for Same Project

Alex Edelman is now halfway to EGOT after winning a Tony Award and an Emmy Award in the same year!

The 35-year-old comedian won an award for his show Just For Us at the 2024 Emmy Awards on Sunday (September 15) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.

Alex debuted the one-man play on Broadway in 2023 and turned the show into an HBO Max special, which began streaming in 2024.

After being honored with a Special Tony Award for “exemplary debut,” Alex picked up the Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special. Joining him in the audience was best friend Benj Pasek, who just became an EGOT recipient after his own Emmy win.

Alex gave an emotional acceptance speech in which he paid tribute to his collaborator Adam Brace, who passed away last year.

He added, “This is really, really beautiful. I really miss Adam but it was the end of a seven-year journey with the show, but I got to make something really funny with my friends.”
