The Anambra State Government has initiated a campaign to end the disruptive sit-at-home order that has been paralyzing business activities in the state every Monday.

In the latest effort, officials serving in Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration have been dispatched to various markets to reassure traders and urge them to resume business operations.

Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Ernest Ezeajughi, along with Special Adviser on Trade and Markets, Chief Evarist Uba, and Security counterpart, AVM Ben Chiobi Rtd., visited major markets in the state on Monday to spearhead the mission.

Addressing market leaders in Awka, Ezeajughi emphasized the importance of traders opening their shops and encouraging others to follow suit. He stated, “Government has decided to provide maximum security across markets and had concluded arrangements with financial institutions across the state to open for business as well. Government will do everything possible to ensure full return of business on Mondays is achieved. We warn any market leadership that would sabotage the government’s present efforts towards achieving a boosted economic growth and stability to take caution because they will be seriously sanctioned.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, had earlier deployed operatives to banks to enhance security measures.

This move by the Anambra State Government underscores its commitment to restoring normalcy and fostering economic recovery amidst prevailing challenges.
