The North Central All Progressive Congress, APC, Forum has issued a rallying call to professional bodies within the region, including lawyers, civil society organizations, and journalists, urging them to unite in efforts to remove APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Alhaji Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, the Chairman of the forum, emphasized made this appeal during discussions with journalists in Jos, the capital of Plateau State.
Zazzaga highlighted the multiple votes of no confidence cast against Ganduje within his Kano ward, underscoring the forum’s commitment to the interests of the North Central region.
He asserted, “All we are doing is in the interest of the North Central region, and that is why we are calling for the professional bodies from the region to join hands with us.”
The forum’s objective, according to Zazzaga, extends beyond partisan concerns, encompassing endeavors for the advancement and equitable treatment of the North Central region. He urged individuals across political, professional, and socio-cultural spectra to unite in pushing for Ganduje’s removal to facilitate the ascension of a representative from the region to his position.
Zazzaga, also a member of the Presidential Campaign Council in the previous election, emphasized the importance of collective support for the forum ahead of the impending hearing of their lawsuit against Ganduje on May 30, 2024.
Furthermore, he elucidated, “Why we have been intensifying push for the zoning of the National Chairmanship position of the party to the region is not only because that position is well deserved by the region, but also owing to the zone’s contribution to the progress of the party and its victory in 2023 elections.”
Highlighting the region’s significant contributions to the APC’s success, including the support for President Bola Tinubu’s emergence and the delivery of five out of six governors in the North Central, Zazzaga stressed the imperative of safeguarding the region’s interests within the ruling party.
