In a harrowing incident on Thursday, bandits abducted Aondo Ver, a director in the Federal Housing Authority, Federal Capital Territory, from his residence, located approximately 200 meters from a military base in Pambara, within the Bwari Area Council of Abuja.

The assailants, who struck around 12:30 am, unleashed indiscriminate gunfire, instigating panic in the vicinity before making a swift escape through the bushes with their captive. Distressed residents, including both serving and retired military personnel and civilians, confirmed the audacious attack.

A source provided details, stating, “Bandits attacked Pambara Extension overnight, at about 12:30 am today (Thursday), and they abducted one of our neighbors, Mr. Aondo Ver, who is a Director in the Federal Housing Authority, FCT. The attack happened very close to a ‘camp,’ the military base at the entrance of Bwari, very close to Pambara Extension. The part of Pambara Extension where Mr. Ver was kidnapped is just about 200 meters away from the military base. But the kidnappers escaped through the bushes with the victim.”

Expressing shock, another resident emphasized the proximity of the estate to the military base, known as ‘camp,’ and the presence of serving and retired military personnel. Despite this, the bandits demonstrated boldness in executing the attack and abducting Mr. Ver.

The Federal Capital Territory is grappling with a disturbing surge in insecurity, sparking heightened concerns among both residents and authorities.
