Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has received a very interesting offer from Saudi Arabia, as per a report by Achraf Ben Ayad.

The German has been at the club since 2014, when Luis Enrique first came in to manage the team. He was one of the best performers for the club that season in the Champions League as Barcelona won the treble for the second time.

Cut to almost an entire decade down the line, ter Stegen is now the second-captain of the club after the departure of Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Gerard Pique in the summer.

With Sergi Robert often injured or on the bench, he has taken charge of proceedings with the armband more in most games this season.

However, his performances over the years have been called into question by Barcelona fans, especially in context of some of the more embarrassing defeats faced by the club over the years.

This includes the 3-0 loss against AS Roma, the 4-0 debacle against Liverpool at Anfield, and of course, the 8-2 humiliation against Bayern Munich in Lisbon.

With Barcelona in a desperate need to sell players this summer to raise money for transfers, ter Stegen could be one of the sacrificial lambs, which could force the Catalans to take a deep dive into the market for a replacement.

Only time will tell how either party will respond to this offer, though, if there is any truth to it in the first place.
