The Oyo State House of Assembly has suspended the Chairman of Saki East Local Government Area, Emmanuel Adedokun, over allegations of gross misconduct.

The suspension, which takes immediate effect, was announced during the Assembly’s plenary on Tuesday following a petition submitted by 11 members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Saki East.

The petitioners accused Adedokun of repeatedly disregarding directives from Governor Seyi Makinde since assuming office.

In his place, the Assembly directed the council’s Vice Chairman, Razaq Adeyemi, to assume the role of Acting Chairman, while the council’s Secretary will serve as Acting Vice Chairman pending the outcome of an investigation by the Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.

The lawmakers stated that Adedokun’s suspension would remain in force until further notice.
