French World Cup champion Paul Pogba has been handed a four-year ban from football due to doping violations, effectively ending his career as he approaches his 31st birthday in March.
Pogba, a midfielder for Juventus, has been suspended since last September following a doping test conducted in August, which revealed elevated levels of testosterone, a banned substance that enhances athletes’ endurance.
The tribunal found Pogba in violation of anti-doping regulations after detecting “non-endogenous testosterone metabolites” in his test sample, resulting in the stringent four-year ban, one of the harshest penalties for such an offense.
