Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, made an assertive move by visiting the National Secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to claim his Certificate of Return.
The party had earlier issued a certificate of return to Asue Ighodalo. The certificate was given to Ighodalo by the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Umar Damagum. Ighodalo emerged victorious in the party’s governorship primary election in Edo State, endorsed by the NWC, while Shaibu was declared the winner of a separate primary conducted on the same day.
Following the receipt of his certificate of return, Ighodalo expressed gratitude to his supporters, party members, and the NWC. The former Sterling Bank Chairman urged his fellow contenders to join forces and support him in the party’s best interest.
In a briefing with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, the Deputy Governor emphasized the significance of the day as designated by the National Working Committee of the party for the certificate’s collection.
Shaibu asserted, “Today is the day set aside for the collection of the certificate of return for the primary winner. I understand someone came yesterday and was given; well, the court will decide…”
