Over the past couple of days, it appeared that after having refused to change his stance, Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez was finally ready to perform a U-turn and stay at the club beyond this season.

Indeed, many reliable sources reported that Xavi seemed all set to continue with Barcelona beyond the current campaign by reversing the decision he had made back in January.

Another sudden turn of events

However, now, there appears to be another twist in the tale as journalist Toni Juanmarti reports that Xavi is now closer to leaving Barcelona than staying.

This comes as a radical turn of events, considering that only a little while ago, it was suggested that the 44-year-old club legend would be continuing that that president Joan Laporta has some conditions for him to stay.

There was no total consensus on the matter though with the board being split over Xavi’s continuity.

Now, it appears that the situation has completely flipped and that the manager will be leaving at the end of the season.

A meeting is supposedly underway between Deco and Xavi, who will also meet Laporta before the final decision over his future is made.

Fabrizio Romano also confirms the situation, claiming that there has been no agreement reached over Xavi’s continuity despite internal talks being held.

The Italian transfer expert adds that there is a strong possibility that the 44-year-old Spaniard will be on his way out.

As such, Xavi appears to have a foot outside Barcelona, with both sources suggesting that the club is already starting to look for replacements.
