Ivan Toney was left out of Brentford’s matchday squad for their Premier League opener against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The England international has just one year left on his contract and is expected to leave the Bees before the end of the transfer window.

However, despite being strongly linked with a move to one of the Premier League’s top six clubs, so far, interest in the Englishman has been few and far between.

Limited options for Ivan Toney

According to a recent report from the Independent, although the 28-year-old has been ‘internally discussed’ at Chelsea and Manchester United, neither side are willing to meet Brentford’s £60 million valuation.

The same can be said for Arsenal and Spurs who have both prioritised other signings over the former Newcastle United striker.

In fact, the only club side thought to be willing to meet Brentford’s eye-watering price demands is Saudi club Al Ahli. The Middle Eastern club want to bring the Bees’ centre-forward to the Pro League and could do so before the close of the transfer window at the end of the month.

With Toney’s future still undecided, the saga surrounding the forward may not be resolved until the window’s final hour, which could see Brentford left with no choice but to compromise on the player’s fee.

During his four years at the Community Stadium, Toney, who has represented England on six occasions, has scored 72 goals and registered 23 assists in 141 games in all competitions.
