Justin Baldoni‘s legal team responded to one of Blake Lively‘s requests before their upcoming first day in court. As you’re likely aware, the 41-year-old actor/director and the A-list Hollywood couple have their first court hearing scheduled to take place early next week amid their extended legal battle. On Thursday (January 30), Blake‘s legal team addressed her deposition, asking that it happen soon. They made another request, which Justin‘s team strongly disagreed with. Keep reading to find out more… The request was that Justin‘s lawyer Bryan Freedman not be the person to depose Blake. If you were unaware, she and her husband Ryan Reynolds formally asked the judge to stop Bryan from speaking to the press about the case. Justin‘s legal team replied to the request with a letter to the judge, which was obtained by Deadline. “During a conference of the parties’ counsel on January 30, 2025, counsel for the Wayfarer Parties requested the earliest possible deposition of Blake Lively,” Justin‘s lawyer Kevin Fritz wrote in the letter. “Counsel for Ms. Lively and Ryan Reynolds (the “Lively Parties”) stated their objection to the Wayfarer Parties’ lead counsel conducting the deposition of Blake Lively.” He continued, writing, “Specifically, the Lively Parties’ counsel indicated that they object to Bryan J. Freedman, personally, taking Ms. Lively’s deposition, based upon unspecified statements made by Mr. Freedman. When asked to elaborate on the grounds for their objection, counsel for the Lively Parties declined to do so.” “Counsel for Ms. Lively has made clear that Ms. Lively does not want Mr. Freedman to be the attorney who takes her deposition,” he wrote. “We are unaware of any situation that would warrant the deposed party to have a choice in which attorney takes her deposition. Parties to litigation simply do not have the right to dictate which of their opponents’ attorneys may or may not take their deposition or perform any other aspect of the opposing party’s case.” Blake and Ryan are making another big request of the judge.
