Long coveted by Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham, during the last summer transfer window as we revealed to you exclusively last summer, Dušan Vlahović finally remained at Juventus to the delight of fans. Indeed, while his first full season in the Bianconeri jersey had been marked by a certain irregularity and above all several physical glitches including chronic pubalgia which dragged on for many months. His explosive efficiency, which had been his strength under the colors of Fiorentina (98 league games, 44 goals in three and a half seasons), seemed to gradually disappear from the Serbian giant’s palette. But this year, the Italian defenses are having difficulty containing the talent of the former Partizan Belgrade player. At the halfway point of the season, the Serbian striker has 12 goals, which makes him the second scorer in Serie A, behind Lautaro Martinez and his 19 goals.

“I helped the team, I couldn’t have done my doubles without the team. Hopefully we can continue like this. I am always calm. On the pitch you can see more emotions, I don’t worry too much about things. We managed to win against a difficult opponent, on difficult terrain, who had four consecutive victories at home. It’s an important victory for us, especially because we didn’t concede a goal, we have to continue like this”, declared Dušan Vlahović after the victory against Lecce (0-3). This is enough to reassure a Turin team that has been plagued by numerous doubts for a year, between the legal issues and the lack of trophies won. But the transition with new management seems to be paying off. The Old Lady is banking more and more on youth with assertive leaders who confirm their status by fulfilling their role perfectly. This is the case with Vlahović.

A dazzling start to the year

Since December 23, 2023, Dušan Vlahović has scored a goal or provided an assist in every Serie A match he has played. Indeed, the Serbian has been involved in at least one goal for his team in Juventus’ last six matches, for a total of seven goals (including two doubles) and one goal. An incredible form which allows the Bianconeri to believe in the Scudetto, even if it will be necessary to confirm against the Milanese rival: “We don’t think about Inter, we focus on the game against Empoli, then we will think about it later. We go game by game, for us it’s fundamental. I’m fine physically, I haven’t changed anything, I take care of my body with nutrition, rest and training. Compared to last season, I have no problems and I hope to continue like this”then clarified the former nugget of the Viola.

And against Empoli, a few days later, Dušan Vlahović did it again and allowed the Old Lady to grab the point of the draw (1-1). Regularity, efficiency, domination, the Serbian finds all the ingredients which justified this famous XXL transfer, in the 2022 winter transfer window, when Juventus paid 84 million euros: “I have always been skeptical and I tell you I even said. Juventus did well to keep Vlahovic. No, not even 100. He’s strong, young. And these figures will also arrive in the future for someone like Vlahovic, destined to become one of the nine best in Europe,” said Italian legend Luca Toni in the columns of the Gazzetta Dello Sport. Against historic rival Inter Milan, Juventus will need a new big Vlahović to hope to achieve a good performance in this Derby d’Italia, because the Nerazzurri are in very good form this season and far from being easily maneuverable .
