The Kabore Group of Companies has donated assorted food items, sanitary products and an amount of GH¢20,000.00 to the female inmates of the Nsawam Maximum Security Prisons.

The items included bags of rice, sacks of maize, gallons of oil, sanitary pads, toilet rolls and bags of sachet water among others.

The exercise formed part of the Corporate Social Responsibility of the company.

Handing over the items to officials of the facility, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kabore Group of Companies, Alhaji Hamidu Bukari Kabore, indicated that it was very important for the public not to abandon prisoners but rather have such individuals in mind at all times and show them love as often as possible.

He mentioned that the plight of prisoners in Ghana was a very sad one, as provisions by the government remained woefully inadequate.

He, therefore, underscored the need for the public to ensure that they were very careful in all their dealings to reduce the risk of finding themselves in the prisons.

Alhaji Kabore also interacted with some of the inmates and urged them not to be worried about their plight because “everything that has a beginning surely has an end”

He said “Do not think that your current situation is the end of your life. Be optimistic and see it as a chance to be better because maybe if you are not in this place now you could be dead or even bedridden, so I am encouraging you to be happy, fear God and be kind. One day everything will be alright.”

“Every good thing is possible with Allah.”

In furtherance, Alhaji Kabore appealed to other benevolent individuals and institutions to emulate the steps of the Kabore Group of Companies by coming to the aid of prisoners and other vulnerable groups.

Receiving the items on behalf of the prisoners, Assistant Director of Prisons, Victoria Adzewodah, expressed gratitude to the Kabore Group of Companies for the gesture, saying it would go a long way to support the inmates.
