Kamala Harris‘ presidential campaign is launching its first major ad buy with its initial ad, “Fearless,” focused in part on the vice president’s background as a prosecutor as well as a central theme that Donald Trump “wants to take our country backwards.”
The spot will air as part of a $50 million buy across battleground states through the Democratic National Convention next month. It will run on local and national broadcast, cable and streaming, as well as on social media. In addition to shows like The Bachelorette, The Simpsons, The Daily Show and Big Brother, the campaign plans to air spots local and nationally during the Olympic Games. Shorter versions — including 15-second and six-second spots — will show up on Connected TV, audio and social platforms, the campaign said.
Harris says in the spot, “This campaign is about who we fight for. We believe in a future where every person has the opportunity not just to get by, but to get ahead. Where every senior can retire with dignity. But Donald Trump wants to take our country backward. To give tax breaks to billionaires and big corporations and end the Affordable Care Act. But we are not going back.”
Donald Trump’s campaign, meanwhile, has reserved more than $12 million across six battleground states for its first spot since Harris entered the race. The ad hits Harris on the border and immigration, labelling her “Failed. Weak. Dangerously Liberal.” The spot uses clips from a 2021 NBC News interview with Lester Holt in which she struggled to explain why she had not yet visited the southern border.
"This is America's border czar, and she's failed us. Under Harris, over 10 million illegal a year…Kamala Harris: failed, weak, dangerously liberal."

Harris’ campaign also has another celebrity endorsement: Megan Thee Stallion. The rapper is performing at a Harris campaign rally in Atlanta tonight, she wrote on Instagram.
