Part of the allegations includes Harris privately calling Bitcoin “money for criminals”.
Earlier this week, rumors of United States Vice President Kamala Harris speaking at the Bitcoin Conference were making airwaves. Although the news was met with hesitant jubilations, many members of the crypto community truly hoped that the Democrats might finally be coming around to embrace crypto.
Those hopes, however, have now been thoroughly dashed in the light of a recent development.
Kamala Harris Bitcoin Comment
In a recent X post, Bitcoin Magazine CEO David Bailey called out Harris while also laying some damning allegations against her. Part of the allegations includes Harris privately calling Bitcoin “money for criminals”.
According to Bailey, Harris and other members of President Joe Biden’s administration repeatedly desecrated the crypto industry over the past four years. So, now trying to push the narrative of being crypto-friendly is nothing but a lie. Part of the post reads:
“I’m sorry, but you don’t get to just screw our industry over for 4 years, push operation choke point, enlist Gensler and Warren as your Champions, and then just pretend you’re hip with Bitcoin.”
Bailey’s outburst follows recent news that Harris will no longer be making an appearance at the upcoming Bitcoin Conference. Bailey claims that Harris’ campaign team was trying to ensure she would talk at the Bitcoin Conference, the world’s largest Bitcoin conference hosted by Bitcoin Inc. As a fact, her campaign also reportedly reached out to billionaire Mark Cuban for crypto insights.
The new turn of events, however, has not exactly come up as shocking to Bailey. He claims that her absence only further proves that the current administration might not be ready to soften its hostile stance on crypto, particularly as it regards regulatory approaches.
In all of this, though, an interesting point would be that Harris has still not made any notable public statements about crypto in her time so far as a politician. So, it might be difficult to understand her personal views on the subject.
Crypto and US Politics
Unlike Democrats who have been obviously very reserved in dealing with crypto, Republican nominee Donald Trump has fully embraced the asset class. Trump continues to build a relationship with the crypto community and has recently been very vocal in his support for the community. It has been confirmed that Trump will attend the Bitcoin Conference in Nashville this week, alongside other prominent names like Cathie Wood, Michael Saylor, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
