Kamala Harris appeared at a Univision town hall in Las Vegas today, her latest stop in a media blitz as she and rival Donald Trump battle to win over the Latino vote.
Harris answered questions on healthcare, immigration and reproductive rights in the same way she has done elsewhere, according to a pool report. But she also took a rather unexpected question from a voter at the end of the event.
The vice president was asked to name three virtues about Trump.
Harris said that she thought that Trump “loves his family,” but admitted that she did not “really know him.” Their meeting at the ABC News presidential debate on Sept. 10 was the first time they met in person.
The town hall will air on Univision at 10 p.m. ET tonight. Trump is scheduled to do a town hall with the broadcaster next week, on Oct. 16, in Miami. Enrique Acevedo moderated the event.
Recent polls show that Harris is winning the Latino vote, but Trump has made gains, particularly among men.
At the town hall, one voter said he was upset with the way that President Joe Biden had been treated, as there was pressure on him to step aside after a poor debate performance in June. Harris said that history would show that Biden’s decision to stand down “was probably one of the most courageous that a president could make.”
More to come.
