Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf has restated his commitment to fully implement the components of the declaration of a state of emergency on education.

He also said his administration has restated the boarding status of 15 girls’ secondary schools removed by the immediate past administration in the state.

The governor made the declaration on Monday when he paid an unscheduled inspection visit to Government Girls Secondary School Albasu, as contained in a press statement issued by the governor’s spokesman, Sanusi Tofa.

The governor said, “The era of pupils receiving lectures under harsh conditions was over, pledging to ensure a total rehabilitation and provision of furniture for public schools in the state”.

“The government’s commitment to providing basic learning materials and infrastructure will go a long way in improving the quality of education in the state,” he said.

He directed the Ministry of Education to as a matter of urgency to deploy English Language, Mathematics and Natural Sciences teachers to the school for pedagogical enhancement.

Also, Yusuf disclosed that the government has re-boarded the 15 schools adding that rehabilitation work is going toward the resumption of academic activities next session commencing soon.

“Kano Government will not relent in building, as well as in the rehabilitation of more classrooms, furniture, teaching aides, including all that it takes to create a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning in schools across the state”, Yusuf emphasised.

“I  have also inspected Albasu five five-kilometre road project which is 98% completed. I’m delighted with the level of the work done.  I’m therefore calling on the Contractor to speed up the process of completing  the remaining work in no distant time.”

Also, Yusuf directed the Ministry of Health to evaluate Albasu Primary Health Center toward upgrading it to the status of a Cottage Hospital, as well as expanding its services to the teeming populace.
