The Kano State Government, on Wednesday, inaugurated a committee for the forthcoming 2024 Ramadan Feeding Programme.

The Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, who inaugurated the committee in his office, said, “The objective of the programme is to assist all residents of the state, irrespective of political affiliations to benefit from the incumbent government’s largesse.”

This was contained in a press statement issued to newsmen by the Deputy Governor’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Shuaibu, on Wednesday.

The deputy governor, who urged the committee to strategise the distribution of foodstuffs across designated areas in the state, stressed the importance of completing their task within five days.

He emphasised the need to review previous reports, ensuring tangible results to address existing gaps.

The committee’s terms of reference include identifying key distribution spots within the state’s eight metropolitan and 36 local government areas.

“The breakfast menu is recommended for the targeted Muslim Ummah during the Ramadan, as well as individuals or groups deserving of government’s goodwill, as Ramadan gesture.”

Expressing appreciation to the state’s people for their ongoing support, Comade Gwarzo underscored the commitment of the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf-led administration.

The Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Ahmad Auwal, who spoke on behalf of the committee, thanked the state government for entrusting them with this crucial Ramadan feeding task.

He assured the government that the committee would work diligently to fulfil its mandate.

“All philanthropists in the state should be magnanimous in supporting the programme and ensure its success and widespread benefits during the Holy Ramadan month,” he said.

Members of the committee include Aisha Lawan Saji, the Commissioner of Women’s Affairs; Amina Abdullahi, the Commissioner of Special Duties, Umar Haruna Doguwa, the Commissioner of Education, Baba Halilu Dantiye, who is the Commissioner of Information, among others.
