The Kano State Private Health Institution Management Agency has closed down four medicine patent facilities in the Rogo Local Government Area for conducting illegal operations and not complying with the law of the Agency.

The Director General of PHIMA, Prof. Salisu Tofa, who led the team of inspectors to the facilities on Friday, said the exercise was aimed at sanitizing the health sector in Kano State.

Represented by a Director, Abdussalam Zarewa, Prof. Tofa stated that the four affected facilities were found operating without registration and due approval of the Agency, an action which, according to him, contravened the law of the Agency.

He said the facilities were found conducting blood transfusions, blood tests, drips, and other health services without a laboratory.

“The facilities are operating illegally which is against the laws of the agency hence our decision to close them to serve as a deterrent to others,” he said.

He said their actions contradicted the provisions of the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria and directed the Proprietors to register with PHIMA and pay the seal of their facilities at the sum of N50,000 for compliance.

The affected facilities include: Sayane Nagari, Damagari, Zoza Ward; Muktar Danjume, Taimakon Alumma, Kwanar Jajaye Ward; Jonathan Magaji, Rahab Philip Chemist, Barbaji Jajaye Ward; and Blessing Yanoko Chemist, Yanoko Fulatan Ward.

Similarly, Maigayya Clinic and Maternity, Yanoko Fulatan Ward, was ordered to appear before the agency or risk the complete closure of its facility

In response to the agency’s directive, the proprietors of the facilities acknowledged their wrongdoings and pledged to visit the Agency’s office to comply with the necessary procedures.
