Kanye West admits he ‘was drinking’ when he posted antisemitic tweet: Hennessy brings out ‘the demons’

Blame it on the alcohol.

Kanye West has admitted he was under the influence when he shared an antisemitic tweet in October 2022 that cost him several business deals and caused tons of public backlash.

“I was drinking when I put up the DEFCON tweet,” the “All Falls Down” rapper, 47, said in an episode of Candace Owen’s podcast, “Candace,” which was filmed in 2022 but just released Wednesday.

“You wanna know what alcohol I had inside me? Hennessy. It turns us gray. The demons [come out].”

When the 35-year-old asked West why he did not disclose that detail prior, he said he didn’t want his words “discredited” because he still considered them to be “truth.”

This is not the first time West, who legally changed his name to Ye in 2021, has blamed booze for his bad behavior.

Six years after the “Power” rapper interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, he addressed the ordeal at the 2015 VMA’s and attributed it in part to alcohol.

“If I had to do it all over again, what would I have done? Would I have worn a leather shirt? Would I have drank half a bottle of Hennessy and gave the rest of it to the audience…?” he said when accepting the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the time.

“After that night, the stage was gone, but the effect that it had on people remained.”

Despite his excuses, West’s actions in 2009 and then in October 2022 have left a lasting impact.

Nearly two years ago, the the Yeezy founder went on a late-night rant on Twitter, now known as X, and wrote, “I’m a bit sleepy tonight but when I wake up I’m going death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.

“The funny thing is I actually can’t be Anti Semitic because black people are actually Jew also You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda.”

The explosive comment got West promptly suspended from Elon Musk’s social media platform.

The fallout then continued with the “Runaway” rapper losing partnership deals with brands like Adidas, Balenciaga and Gap.

“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech,” the sneaker and sportswear company said in a statement at the time.

“Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”

Despite the criticism and loss of financial funds, West refused to retract his initial stance.

The “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” rapper told Piers Morgan at the time that he was “absolutely not” sorry for his statements but then said he was apologetic for the people he “hurt” and the “confusion” he caused.

However, a little over a year later, West was heard going on a 10-minute, antisemitic rant in Las Vegas.

“Who’s going to make the hospitals, though? He’s a Zionist, Trump. This is what I’ve been trying to tell you. Jesus Christ, Hitler, Ye, third party, sponsor that.”

West then apologized for his “unintended” antisemitic “outbursts,” but wore a shirt with a neo-Nazi figure’s face on it less than a month later this past January.

The “Heartless” rapper’s former employees have also alleged in lawsuits that West has praised Adolf Hitler in meetings and said “Nazis are good at propaganda.”
