Kate Middleton will continue her return to public life with an appearance at the Wimbledon Men’s Singles final Sunday afternoon.

The Princess of Wales, who is the patron of the All England Club that hosts the tournament in south-west London, will present the champion’s trophy to the victor, either Novak Djokovic or Carlos Alcaraz.

This will be Kate’s first public duty since her appearing at the King’s official birthday Trooping the Colour parade last month. In other years, she has also attended Saturday’s Women’s Singles final, but it has been confirmed she won’t be there today. Instead, Wimbledon chairwoman Debbie Jevans will present the trophy to either Jasmine Paolini or Barbora Krejcikova.

Kate has been patron of the All England Club for eight years, and presented the trophies every year since 2016.

In a statement last month on the eve of her appearing at Trooping the Colour, Kate revealed she hoped to be attending some events this summer but that, as for many patients having chemotherapy, she has “good and bad days.”

Prince William also has a big sporting date in his diary this weekend. As president of England’s Football Association, he will be supporting the team in Berlin Sunday evening, as they attempt to break their duck of triumph with a win in the European Cup Final. The last international championship title for the England team was the World Cup in 1966.
