EXCLUSIVE: The Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania actress is getting in on the bloody fun of Radio Silence’s follow-up to their near $58M global grossing 2019 cult Searchlight hit, Ready or Not. It’s Kathryn Newton‘s second collaboration with Radio Silence after their Universal horror movie last year, Abigail.
Newton joins returning star Samara Weaving in the movie directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
The original Ready or Not scribes are also back, Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy. The first Ready or Not followed a young bride (Weaving) as she joined her new husband’s (Mark O’Brien) rich, eccentric family (Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, Andie MacDowell) in a time-honored tradition that turned into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival.
Searchlight VP of Production Richard Ruiz and Creative Executive Cornelia Burleigh are covering the project for the studio. They report to Co-Heads of Production and Development DanTram Nguyen and Katie Goodson-Thomas.
Producers on the pic are Tripp Vinson, James Vanderbilt, Bradley J. Fischer and William Sherak. EPs are Chad Villella, Tara Farney, Greg Denny, Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy.
Newton first gained recognition for her portrayal of Louise Brooks in the multi-Emmy winning HBO series Big Little Lies and later starred in Freaky. Her other credits include Lisa Frankenstein, the Oscar winning The Society and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Blockers.
Newton is repped by WME, Entertainment 360, and Hansen, Jacobson, Teller, Hoberman, Newman, Warren, Richman, Rush, Kaller, Gellman, Meigs & Fox.
