A Katsina State High Court has reserved November 29 to deliver judgment on a suit challenging the legitimacy of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) congresses in the state.
The suit was filed by a faction within the PDP, led by Dr Mustafa Inuwa, former Secretary to the Katsina State Government, and other party members.

The group contests the validity of the congresses conducted by a rival faction led by Senator Yakubu Lado, which resulted in the selection of new party officials from ward to state levels.

Justice Abbas Bawale adjourned the case after hearing arguments from both the plaintiffs’ and defendants’ counsels.

The defence counsel, Barrister Isaac Nwachukwu, argued that the congresses are internal party affairs, asserting that such issues should be resolved within the party rather than in court.
In contrast, Barrister Mustafa Shitu Mahuta, representing the plaintiffs, argued that the congresses were conducted illegally, excluding certain party members and violating democratic principles as well as the PDP constitution.
