Katsina PDP faction elects new officials

A factional group of the Peoples Democratic Party in Katsina State led by its gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general election, Yakubu Lado faction has elected new officials in a Saturday congress held at the state party secretariat, Katsina.

Announcing the new officials of the party, the Chairman of the Congress, Ilu Bello announced Nura Kurfi as the new chairman of the PDP in the state. 

“Based on the constitution, we have the representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission here to witness the outcome of our election of the 39 positions, comprising of state, zonal and local government officials”, Ilu said.

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman, Amadi said the new officials will justify the confidence repose on them.

“We will amend all broken walls in PDP as we take over the mantle of leadership today, Saturday 31st August 2024. We will take over the state in the 2027 general election, God willing,” Amadi told the gathering.

However, some stakeholders of the main opposition in the state, such as House of Representatives member, representing the Mashi/Dutsi Federal constituency of Katsina and former Chairman of the party in the state, Salisu Majigiri, the Chairman of Atiku/Lado 2023 Campaign Director, Senator Ibrahim Tsauri, and the leader of Lado gubernatorial campaign movement, Dr. Mustapha Inuwa and their followers were absent from the venue of the congress.

A source told our correspondent in confidence that the three PDP bigwigs and their supporters were not part of the Lado team.

“We are not part of the Lado team. This was why we did not show up at the venue. We are not from their camp. We belong to Mustapha Inuwa,” she said.
