Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda
The Katsina State Governor, Mallam Dikko Radda, has constituted a visitation panel to review the activities of the Katsina State College of Health Sciences.
Radda, represented by his deputy, Mallam Faruk Lawal, disclosed this on Friday while inaugurating the panel in Katsina.
He said, “I am directed to convey the approval of His Excellency the Governor, Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda PhD, CON, for the constitution of a visitation panel to review the activities of the Katsina State College of Health Sciences. It is to be inaugurated by His Excellency the Deputy Governor, Malam Faruk Lawal HICB.
“If you are aware, there are issues of concern raised by the general public regarding the activities of the College of Health Sciences, and His Excellency, the Governor, saw the need to set up a committee to look into the complaints.”
The terms of reference for the committee, according to Radda, include: “Review all the conventional courses offered by the College to ensure that only accredited programmes are available.
“To streamline the courses being offered based on the priority needs of the state.
“To critically examine all the courses under the consultancy unit of the College with a view to scrapping those that are not accredited by the relevant regulatory bodies.
“To revisit and review any previous report on the College submitted by committees set up by the government.
Other terms are: “To revisit and review the procedure adopted for the appointment of the Provost by the Governing Council in order to ascertain any alleged sidelining of some candidates.
“To invite any member of the Governing Council, management staff, or any other personnel in carrying out its assignment.
“To submit a report within two weeks from the date of the committee’s inauguration.”
The membership of the panel includes the Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Dr Faisal Umar Kaita; former Special Adviser, Dr Bashir Godiya; retired Permanent Secretary, Rabiú Abdu Rumah; State Auditor General for Local Government, Abu Safuyanu.
Others are Dr Muáwuya Aliyu, Director of the State Ministry of Health, and Abubakar Saminu from the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the State.
