Although Key & Peele has long been off the air, not much has changed in the world of college football.
Nearly a decade after the Comedy Central show ended, Keegan-Michael Key referenced a classic sketch as he appeared on TNT‘s College Football Playoff Kickoff Show during Saturday’s game between SMU and Penn State.
The show’s roundtable presented two of the most interesting names in college football, a tribute to the Key & Peele sketch ‘East/West College Bowl‘, asking Key to weigh in on the monikers Moh Bility (Rice University cornerback) and General Booty (UL Monroe quarterback).
“Of these two, just for the sheer cleverness of the name Moh Bility,” he said through laughter. “I like the ‘H’ too, kinda mixes it up a little bit.”
Key added, “First of all, if you’re gonna name your kid General, he better succeed. There’s no choice.”
Key did not hold back on the most interesting names in College Football 🤣 😭

They threw one last wild card in, making up the name D’Neckshaw Trapezius, which was jokingly displayed with a player against the ‘East/West College Bowl’ graphics.
In the sketch, Key and co-star Jordan Peele took turns impersonating a series of fictional athletes, introducing themselves in an ESPN style promo with increasingly bizarre names, such as D’Squarius Green Jr., Xmus Jaxon Flaxon-Waxon and [The Player Formerly Known As Mousecop].
After the duo first appeared together on Fox’s Mad TV in 2004, they landed their own self-titled show on Comedy Central, which ran for five seasons from 2012 to 2015. The series earned them an Emmy Award for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series in 2016.
