Keep It Alive: Dominik Mysterio Reveals How He Kept Kayfabe After WrestleMania

That’s dedication. Wrestling is one of the most unique forms of entertainment in the world, as the people involved are performers, but at the same time they are expected to at like everything they are doing is legitimate. While that is not enforced nearly as strictly these days, you will occasionally see it still happening. One modern WWE Superstar is now revealing how far he went with his efforts.

During a new interview with Sports Illustrated, Dominik Mysterio spoke about an effort to keep kayfabe following his WrestleMania 39 match with his father Rey Mysterio. Dominik was invited to a family dinner after the show but instead bought a hot dog from a street vendor and went back to his hotel room. He said that this was out of respect for his family and the sport that he and his godfathers had been part of over the years.

Opinion: While you do not hear about this as much these days, it is rather fascinating to see someone do this kind of thing in modern wrestling. Rey and Dominik had a rather heated, personal rivalry last year and it would have felt weird to see them together just hours after the show. Dominik isn’t exactly going insane with protecting the story, but it’s more than a lot of people have done.
