A wrestler can always stick around for one more match or something similar and that is a difficult process to figure out. One prominent wrestler has previously given a date when he would be retiring but now things have changed in a bit way.

Cody Rhodes was interviewed by Justin Walker and revealed that he had signed a new multi-year extension with WWE. This will push Rhodes’ WWE career beyond his 40th birthday, which he had previously said would be his time to step away from the ring. Rhodes, 38, spoke about how his now two year old daughter would need him around in the future and there would come a time when he had to give her more time. He did not give a new cutoff date for his retirement.

Opinion: It makes sense to change a date like this as Rhodes’ career has turned around in the last few years. Rhodes is seemingly on the verge of becoming the biggest star in WWE and it is going to be a huge deal if he is able to dethrone Roman Reigns at WrestleMania. If he was ready to hang up his boots in about 15 months, there would be no reason for WWE to invest in him that much and thankfully both sides seem to understand that.
