Kelly Clarkson is having another true fan girl moment! The 42-yaer-old singer and talk show host shared a new video reacting to Celine Dion‘s video message to her, praising her recent cover of “My Heart Will Go On.” “@celinedion you have no idea how much you even noticing my existence means to me! Thank you so much for being such an amazing example of true passion and being one of the greatest vocalists of all time that I am still, to this day, inspired by ❤️,’ she captioned the video on her show’s official Instagram. Keep reading to find out more… In her video, Kelly explains how the cover, which aired on The Kelly Clarkson Show a couple weeks ago, was her redeeming her younger self after not delivering a great performance of another Celine song on American Idol. She said she was in the studio working on “Kellyoke” things with her musical director when her manager showed her the video. “I cried,” Kelly said, “because it was Celine Dion saying that she saw my performance and she knows my name. So that’s cool.” “It blew me away, but what really hit me was, okay, 22 years ago on American Idol, I got laryngitis,” she explained. “And I sang, that was the week that I had laryngitis. I had to sing Celine Dion‘s ‘I Surrender All.’ I ball that night because I’m just mortified that Celine Dion is going to see this performance. I could have cared less about votes at that point. I just didn’t want to see Celine Dion see or hear this because it was so bad, because I was sick.” “Cut to 22 years later, I finally got a Celine Dion performance and I felt like I sang it all right, you know?” Kelly continued. “I got to honor someone who is such a hero to me vocally, like she is one of my main inspirations of why I’m a singer. And she watched it and I did good. And I feel like I made my 19-year-old self very proud. That’s what I did.” Kelly then joked, “I might watch [Celine's video] before bed, because she said my name. She said she loves me… It’s like one of my… like I can quit now in life. I’m retiring. Good night.” In Celine‘s video, she said, “When I came back from the Olympics, I got to watch and listen to your reaction to my performance on the Eiffel Tower. It was o sweet to hear you, your voice. Your voice was breaking and it touched me so tremendously.” “You were crying and then you made me start crying. What’s up with all this friggin crying?! And now I just saw you sing ‘My Heart Will Go On’ and I’m crying again,” Celine continued. “You were absolutely incredible. Fantastic. I loved it so much,” she said. “I hope we can see each other in person soon. Very soon. And I hope I’m not gonna start crying. I love you so much. Thanks. Bye.” Check out both of their videos, and Kelly‘s cover, below…
