Kelly Marie Tran, Benedict Wong and Jimmy O. Yang have been set to star in Rock Springs, a new film written and to be directed by Two Sentence Horror Stories creator and Expats scribe Vera Miao.
The plot of the drama centers on a grieving young girl who, along with her mother and grandmother, moves to Rock Springs, WY after the death of her father, only to discover there is something monstrous hidden in the town’s history and the woods behind their new house.
Aria Kim (Whisper) and Fiona Fu (Tigertail) also star in the pic, from Macro Film Studios, Juniper Productions, Mandalay Pictures, Counterculture and Gold House. Macro, Juniper and Gold House are co-financing.
Miao, whose Two Sentence Horror Stories ran for three seasons on the CW, originated the idea for Rock Springs and it was developed by Counterculture, which brought on Macro to produce and finance. Macro then brought in with Mandalay and their partner Juniper. Gold House came aboard to co-finance, serve as executive producers and provide cultural consultation.
