Kendrick Lamar has truly been having an incredible year—and then some.

From his back-and-forth feud with Drake, Lamar seemed to put the rivalry to rest with his undeniable hit “Not Like Us.” He then released his album GNX right before the end of 2024, which has continued to top the charts and gained attention when he appeared at the Grammys.

But that wasn’t his biggest achievement—Super Bowl LIX was ready to shake things up, featuring Lamar alongside his special guest, SZA, who will join him on his Grand National Tour starting in April. The performance marked the first time a rap star had been the solo headliner of a Super Bowl halftime show. Lamar had previously performed at the Super Bowl in 2022 as part of a star-studded lineup with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige.

That’s something I wanted to carry over to New Orleans and for the world to see. This is me. This is Kendrick Lamar, 37 years old, and I still feel like I’m elevating, I’m still on a journey.”
