It’s been a little more than a month since Kendrick Lamar dropped “Meet the Grahams” and “Not Like Us” within a 24-hour period and completely changed the trajectory of Drake’s career. That’s what BBL Drizzy gets for trying to f–k with the boogeyman. Hilariously, the beef has turned into a now simmering gossip storyline – Drake’s attempts to turn the page after getting bodied by Kendrick have fallen flat. Just this week, Drake deleted all of his Kendrick diss-tracks on Instagram. Meanwhile, Kendrick’s “Not Like Us,” “Euphoria” and even “Meet the Grahams” are some of his biggest songs in years, with “Not Like Us” making it to #1 on a lot of charts. Reportedly, Kendrick has been working on a new album and no one knows if he’ll ever release the other Drake diss songs he claims to have in stock. It would be amazing if those songs made it onto his new album, I’m just saying. Meanwhile, Kendrick has just announced a new concert/event in LA. On Juneteenth. Just wait until an LA crowd hears “Not Like Us” live on Juneteenth.

Fresh off of his war of words with Drake, Kendrick Lamar has announced a one-time show in Los Angeles on June 19, otherwise known as Juneteenth.

The event, entitled The Pop Out — Ken and Friends, will be presented by pgLang and Free Lunch. Presale tickets for the concert at the Kia Forum will be available on Thursday at 10 a.m. PT via the Cash App Card, while general on-sale starts Friday at 10 a.m. PT on Ticketmaster.com.

Lamar himself announced the all-ages event on his social media profiles, posting an image of a license plate that detailed the show. Ken and Friends will begin at 4 p.m. PT.

Of course, “The Pop Out” is a reference to a lyric from Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” where he raps, “Sometimes you gotta pop out and show n—s / Certified boogeyman, I’m the one that up the score with ’em.” The song was a diss directed at Drake that released a month ago and has continued on to scale the top of the charts, arguably becoming the most successful of the songs released between Drake and Lamar.

Calling it The Pop Out is next-level, omfg. I love that Kendrick is doing a concert and that it’s happening on Juneteenth. I genuinely wonder if none of this Drake sh-t had happened, whether Kendrick would have just stayed quiet this whole year, working on his next album and spending time with his family. I’m loath to give Drake credit for anything, but BBL Drizzy really managed to get Kendrick to “pop out” and just casually destroy a popular artist out of pure spite. It’s glorious.
