KENTA comments on potentially facing CM Punk.

KENTA and CM Punk have been feuding outside of the ring for years, as the NJPW star has taken issue with Punk using his GTS as his own finishing move. They have traded shots on multiple occasions, and a match between the two was reportedly in the works for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023, but it wound up not happening. Punk’s AEW contract was terminated in September 2023, and he then returned to WWE in November.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, KENTA was asked about a potential match against CM Punk, given the way that WWE has been working with other companies lately.

“Do people want to see me vs. CM Punk?” KENTA said. “We can’t fight for the GTS. The GTS is mine.”

KENTA also briefly commented on his WWE run not working out, and he noted that it made him stronger.

“It didn’t work the way we wanted in WWE,” he said. “The experience made me stronger. I’m more like myself in New Japan.

KENTA will face Bobby Fish at MLW Blood & Thunder on July 12. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
