Kevin Nash has spoken candidly about Bret Hart‘s grudge with Bill Goldberg.
The WWE Hall of Famer has not been a fan of Goldberg since their ill-fated clash at Starrcade 1999. The bout saw Goldberg kick Bret Hart directly in the head, causing a concussion that would eventually lead to The Hitman’s retirement.
While he did wrestle matches in the weeks following, including a hardcore match with Terry Funk, the kick would ultimately end Bret Hart’s career. He lost out on his $9 million contract with WCW, something that the Canadian hero still rues to this day.
Kevin Nash was close with both men in WCW. He weighed in on his opinion about Bret Hart on the Kliq This podcast. He said Bret Hart comes across as a “whiner”, but does call him a top ten all-time wrestler.
Kevin Nash noted that Goldberg cost Hart a lot of money in his career. However, he bemoans fans who tell him Hart to simply “get over it”, likening it to trauma suffered by prisoners in jail.
“Bret Hart comes across as a whiner.” Kevin Nash said, “Bret was one of the easily… I’m not going to go into the Mount Rushmore, but definitely one of the top 10 guys to ever do it. It’s like his career got cut short. He could have come back in 2002 to WWE and had a great run. He wasn’t done by any means. It cost him a lot of money, and I mean, Bill said he’s sorry, but…”
“Bret can have whatever opinion he wants to. It’s the people that haven’t done it that say, ‘get over it.’ It’s like, alright, so you’re my cellmate, and for the whole eight years you’re in prison with me, I just bang the dog shit out of you. I just rape you, beat you, beat the out of you. You know what? When you get out of there, you just need to get the fuck over it.’
“Everybody that’s got a problem with it is people that didn’t do it. I don’t get it. What don’t I get? I made a shitload of money. I thought that was my job.” Kevin Nash added.
