Kevin Spacey will be returning to a UK court early next year to stand trial, with the news coming a day after a Channel 4-Max documentary aired new allegations about the two-time Oscar winner.

According to Variety, Spacey will face a civil trial in the UK after being sued by a man who alleges he sexually assaulted him.

The trial will take place early next year. The man, who has been granted anonymity by the court, claims he “suffered psychiatric damage and other financial loss” as a result of the alleged sexual assault.

Spacey’s legal team were in court today responding to a judgement in favor of Spacey’s accuser after they failed to file his defense in time, Variety said. Spacey was not present.

Last year, the House of Cards and American Beauty star was found not guilty on nine charges at London’s Southwark Crown Court, including sexual assault, which were alleged to have been committed between 2001 and 2013 and related to four men.

The news comes the day after more Kevin Spacey allegations aired in Channel 4 and Max’s Spacey Unmasked doc, which concludes tonight. Multiple men make the allegations including a former actor, Ruari Cannon, who says that Spacey touched him in a highly intimate way in June 2013, when he was 21. Spacey denies the allegations and says Channel 4 didn’t give him enough time to respond, which the broadcaster disputes. Over the weekend, Spacey featured on former GB News presenter Dan Wootton’s YouTube channel, saying: “I take full responsibility for my past behaviour and my actions. But I cannot and will not take responsibility or apologise to anyone who’s made up stuff about me or exaggerated stories about me.”

Deadline has reached out to Spacey’s reps for comment.
