As Barcelona resumed preparations for Sunday’s La Liga clash against Sevilla today following the returns of their international players, all eyes were on the training session to see how Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal would participate.
After all, the key attacking duo had returned from the international break with some fitness problems and there had been speculations about their potential unavailability for Sunday’s game.
Lewandowski, Yamal train normally
But, much to the relief of Barcelona and their fans, SPORT reports that both Lewandowski and Yamal trained normally with the rest of the group today, putting to rest any fears of injuries.
Yamal was the first to return from international duty with Spain very early this week after picking up a muscle overload during La Roja’s game against Denmark last weekend.
Even though he was not injured, the muscle strain led to doubts over his availability for Sunday’s clash at Montjuic Stadium. But him training with the group today indicates all is well.
Meanwhile, Lewandowski sustained a knock while playing for Poland against Croatia on Tuesday and had been dealing with a minor fitness problem even before that, leading to concerns over his situation.
But tests conducted on his return to Barcelona yesterday showed no signs of injury and the fact that he trained normally with the group, putting to bed any fears over his condition.
However, it will be interesting to see if manager Hansi Flick uses the attacking duo against Sevilla or opts to rest them and keep them fresh for next week when Barça face Bayern Munich and Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, as reported just a little while back, Dani Olmo, Fermin Lopez, and Gavi all trained normally as well and will be receiving their medical discharge this week.
