Khusanov, the record transfer

A full agreement has been reached between the two teams and only a few details need to be ironed out over the weekend before the transfer is sealed, reports Julien Laurens. City will pay €40m for the centre-back, reports Fabrizio Romano, with Khusanov due to undergo a medical in the coming days.

City boss Pep Guardiola demanded signings in January after a series of defensive injuries and he now appears to have found his man in the talented 20-year-old. The struggling Premier League reigning champions have conceded more goals this season than in previous campaigns and Khusanov can perhaps help solve that problem.

A €40M transfer

Khusanov, who joined Lens from Belarusian Premier League side Energetik-BGU in 2023, has already amassed 18 caps for Uzbekistan. He has also only played 31 times for the Ligue 1 side, but he looks set for a big-money move.

It remains to be seen whether Khusanov has played his final game for Lens and whether he makes his City debut next week, with matches against Brentford and Ipswich Town to come in the Premier League.
