Renowned Igbo gospel artiste, Jude Nnam also known as ‘Ancestor’ has regained freedom after spending nearly a week in the custody of kidnappers.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the music composer was allegedly kidnapped on a Thursday evening in Umunnachi, Anambra State after attending a church function.

Rev Fr Augustine Mario, a Catholic priest had shared the sad news of his kidnap on his Facebook page on Friday.

However, a statement on the musician’s Facebook page confirmed his release on Wednesday, bringing relief to his family and the Christian community.

The statement reads: “The victory sound is here. Our dear ‘Ancestor’ Dr.(Sir) Jude Nnam is back to continue the work of the Lord!!!”

TNG recalls that the singer’s  family had earlier refuted circulating social media reports claiming that Nnam had been released, describing such information as false and misleading.

Dr. Jude Nnam, popularly known as “Ancestor,” is the National Music Director for the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and a member of the National Liturgical Commission, Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria (CSN).

He’s highly revered for his exceptional compositions that have touched many lives, both within and outside Nigeria.

Details of his release however, remain unclear, and it is not known whether a ransom was paid.
