Kiefer Sutherland Remembers Father Donald Sutherland As “One Of The Most Important Actors In The History Of Film”

Actor Kiefer Sutherland today remembered his late father, the actor Donald Sutherland, in a touching message on social media.

“With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away,” Kiefer writes on X/Twitter. “I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.”

The message was accompanied by a black and white photo of Donald holding toddler Kiefer, who of course would grow up to become a successful actor in his own right on 24 and other projects, in his arms.

Donald Sutherland starred in such classic films as The Dirty Dozen, MASH, Klute, Animal House, Ordinary People and The Hunger Games franchise, among many others. He died at 88 today in Miami after a long illness.
