“Nothing like a celebrity who allegedly hates rumors, spreading rumors,” one critic wrote, while another noted, “It’s not like people from your fam have gone into hiding (rightfully so) during pregnancy or other medical reasons… this caption isn’t it.”

“Kate is an icon,” commented a third. “she doesn’t need to say everything about her life unlike you. her silence demonstrated that she was more powerful than all the American stars combined. 🥱.”

The Princess of Wales, 42, has been the subject of intense media speculation ever since Kensington Palace announced earlier this year that she would be undergoing a “planned abdominal” surgery in January. The royals have not revealed any further details regarding the matter to the public at this time.

“The surgery was successful and it is expected that she will remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days, before returning home to continue her recovery,” a brief statement shared via Instagram explained.

The statement also noted that the palace would not be providing regular health bulletins but would only share “significant” updates going forward.

Conspiracy theories quickly ran amok after Prince William, 41, abruptly pulled out of a memorial service for godfather King Constantine of Greece’s funeral service in late February for an undisclosed “personal” reason.

Speculation reached a fever pitch just weeks later when the palace distributed a botched photo of Middleton surrounded by her three children – Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5 – in honor of Mother’s Day in the UK.

The photo was immediately under scrutiny for its clumsy Photoshop edits and was “killed” by major photo agencies. The now-viral snafu prompted Middleton to release a rare apology, in which the self-proclaimed “amateur photographer” explained she had been experimenting with Photoshop.

Middleton is expected to return to her royal duties next month.
