Kim Kardashian originally had a different partner than Chloë Sevigny for her “Actors on Actors” interview, but the celeb dropped out at the “last minute,” according to Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh.

“So, I’m gonna give you a little bit of information; I’m gonna break some news. Chloë Sevigny wasn’t supposed to pair with Kim Kardashian,” the journalist told Meghan McCain on Friday’s episode of her “Citizen McCain” podcast.

“Kim Kardashian had someone else that she was supposed to pair with, and that actor that she was supposed to pair with called in sick on a Friday night, and Kim was supposed to do this on a Sunday,” he continued.

Setoodeh explained that the magazine had to find a replacement quickly, so he thought of Sevigny, 49, because she has also starred in “American Horror Story,” the FX horror anthology series in which Kardashian, 43, made her major acting debut last year.

“[Sevigny] was incredibly gracious [and] stepped in at the last minute and came in and did this conversation with Kim. But that wasn’t her original acting partner,” he said.

The “Apprentice in Wonderland” author called Kardashian and Sevigny “fashion icons” who got into acting in a “very different way” but were an “interesting pairing” nonetheless that “a lot of people talked about.”

Setoodeh declined to share “who called in sick” because he did not “wanna draw undue attention to this person.”

The “Actors on Actors” executive producer also took the opportunity to address people who theorized that Sevigny had shaded Kardashian with an Instagram Story post captioned, “Always nice to be included.”

“What was so funny about all the press and everyone was talking about how Chloë was trying to shade Kim when she wasn’t and saying she was so happy to be included was that Chloë was really excited to talk to Kim. I was in the green room with her right before she went on, and they really liked each other,” he shared.

Setoodeh guessed that the rumblings stemmed from trolls having “strong feelings” about the reality star’s recent foray into acting.

Shortly after the interview was released earlier this month, fans questioned why Kardashian had been paired with an award-winning actress.

However, Sevigny quickly stood up for the “Kardashians” star, writing on Instagram that being an actor “has many forms.”

“Some are rewarded early. Some of us are the journeymen, some have a quieter route, and some a much louder one,” she captioned a photo of the two of them. “And I am always excited to celebrate every kind of actor.”
